WSP Trooper Hurt When Pickup Hits Patrol SUV on I-90 Near Roslyn
Another Washington roadside responder has been hit on the job. A Washington State Patrol trooper was injured Wednesday night, Oct. 21, when a pickup slammed into his patrol SUV on westbound I-90 in Kittitas County.
According to WSP, it happened at about 7:49 p.m. just east of Exit 63, roughly 10 miles west of Roslyn. Trooper Jaden A. Siller, 24, of Ellensburg, was assisting with a lane closure at a separate crash, with his emergency lights on, when a Chevrolet Silverado driven by a 71-year-old Port Angeles man failed to yield and struck his vehicle.
Trooper Siller was taken to Kittitas Valley Healthcare. The pickup's driver and passenger were wearing seatbelts and were not hurt. WSP says drugs and alcohol were not a factor, and charges are under investigation.
This comes just two weeks after a trooper was struck near Kennewick. Troopers, tow operators and other responders work inches from traffic every day. When you see flashing lights on the shoulder, slow down and move over. It's the law in Washington, and it saves lives.
We wish Trooper Siller a full and speedy recovery.
