Update: Driver Suspected of DUI in I-82 Crash That Injured WSP Trooper Near Kennewick

New details have come out about Wednesday night's crash on Interstate 82 south of Kennewick.

Washington State Patrol Trooper Matthew Parham, 38, of Kennewick, was blocking a lane with his emergency lights on around 7:15 p.m. on Oct. 7, after an earlier rollover crash. A 30-year-old Hermiston woman driving a GMC Terrain hit the back of his patrol car.

Troopers say she's suspected of driving under the influence. She was booked into the Benton County jail on one count of DUI. Trooper Parham was treated at Lourdes Medical Center and released.

This is exactly why Washington's Move Over law matters. When you see flashing lights on the shoulder, whether it's a trooper, a tow truck or a road crew, slow down and move over.
