Chattanooga Tow Operator Ben Moore Recovering After Being Hit on I-24
Ben Moore, a driver for Doug Yates Towing and Recovery in Chattanooga, Tennessee, was struck on the evening of Oct. 1 while working on the shoulder of westbound Interstate 24 near Westside Drive with his emergency lights flashing.
Police say a driver failed to move over, crossed the line and hit him. Moore's own dash camera captured the crash. He suffered two broken legs, broken feet and a broken hand, and has had more than 10 hours of surgery on his right leg, with at least one more surgery ahead.
"I really thought right there I was just gonna die on the side of the highway," Moore told NewsChannel 9.
The driver was cited for violating Tennessee's Move Over Law, failure to use due care and failure to maintain her lane. That carries a fine of up to $500 and up to 30 days in jail. No criminal charges have been reported.
We're pulling for Ben and his family. TTOW will post updates as they come out.
